Growing in Christ This step invites you into ongoing spiritual growth and active participation in the life of the church. You’ll discover how God works through your gifts, relationships, and daily work, develop life-giving spiritual practices, and engage in service and ministry. < Back Farmers' Market The market is open the 2nd Saturday of each month April-October and a Christmas Market The Farmers' Market is a ministry that grew out of the Racial Reconciliation group. It was launched in 2024 and takes place on the 2nd Saturday of each month from April to October, running from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the church’s lower parking lot. The market’s goal is to support local Durham farmers and vendors of color, and address food insecurity in collaboration with the Walltown Food Ministry. We strive to share faith stories about what God is doing in our lives and aim to build relationships within the community connecting people with Jesus. Seeking Christ This step is a welcoming introduction to Christian faith and life at Grace. You’ll learn who Jesus is, what Christians believe, and how faith connects to everyday life. Along the way, you’ll be introduced to simple practices like prayer, reading the Bible, and reflection, and you’ll have opportunities to experience worship and community in a low-pressure, supportive environment. Follow Us On Facebook Subscribe to Our Emails Welcome is a big word, for with every welcome there is an ending and a beginning. You arrive on the doorstep, the door opens, and…something new unfolds. This truth is even more apparent when the welcome is from our Lord Jesus. From that moment, there are plenty of endings and beginnings as the journey with Jesus takes us from what we were to what we can become. Thankfully, we know another big word: grace. The joy of life with Jesus Christ is to discover how God’s grace is so abundant that it overflows into every arena of life. We hope you will join us for Sunday worship or connect with us online. What is a Lutheran? Lutheranism is a branch of Christianity that started as a reforming movement within the Catholic Church in the 1500s. A monk and theologian named Martin Luther desired for the church to reclaim the essence of the Gospel with three main points: Grace Alone, Faith Alone, Scripture Alone. Handicap parking spaces are also available in front of the church on Green Street. What about kids? We welcome children to worship with their parents as Pastor Brooks shares a children’s sermon reflecting a child sized message reflective of the Gospel reading. There are age-appropriate activity bags in the Narthex for children to discover during the service. What other events and activities do you offer? < Back Erin Lynn Hodge Music Director Email Erin music@gracedurham.org 919-682-6030 Born in California, moved to NC in 1995. Erin earned a BA and Music Pedagogy from Campbell University. Erin joined Grace Lutheran Church in October 2023 where she is the music and choir director and plays both piano and organ. Her love of music is inspired by Bach, Brahms and Clara Schumann. Erin lives with her two children and three cats. She enjoys reading, editing, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. - Home Centered Care PALS | Grace Durham
< Back Home Centered Care PALS This group visits and cares for folks who are home-centered and often unable to attend church due to various reasons, primarily mobility issues. New PALS are always welcome to join us. The Home-Centered PALS facilitators meet monthly to stay connected with our members who are 'home-centered' and often unable to attend church due to various reasons, primarily mobility issues. This facilitation group consists of former Deacons, current Stephen Ministers, and other servants at Grace who have a heart for our older members. Their mission is to serve and encourage these members while fostering connections among them. Current members of the group include Tom McGill, Judy Barnes, Scott Gesell, Joe Wethman, Joyce Rea, and Barb Tippin. If you have a heart for this type of ministry, we would love for you to join us! We are currently studying the book How to Minister Among Older Adults by Charles T. Knippel in our meetings.
